INTRODUCING

The band...

Steve Thompson

Keyboard, Vocals

Steve began taking piano lessons at the tender age of 8 and has been playing the instrument ever since. He purchased his first synthesizer in 1987; a Roland D-50 that is still part of his current 5-synth arsenal with 6MDB. In addition to playing in 80s bands, Steve enjoys singing in men’s acappella barbershop and doo-wop groups as well as arranging music for various vocal ensembles. One of Steve’s favorite 80s bands is Depeche Mode -- killer synths and superb songwriting since the early 80s, and they’re still going strong today. When not involved with 6MDB, Steve can be found cycling, jogging, watching football, or just relaxing and geeking out with his extensive music library.

Lori Williams

Vocals

Lori started singing at the age of 17, performing for the first time in her high school talent show. That experience got her hooked and has been fortunate to sing with a couple of local bands over the years. She loves performing with 6MDB and being able to share the stage with her brother, Steve, is an extra bonus! She loves all music, but 80's new wave is her favorite. Lori married her elementary school crush and is a mom to 4 awesome humans. She is a hairstylist by trade and in her spare time can be found adventuring with her family!

Brandon Higgins

Guitar, Vocals

Multi-talented Brandon Higgins is the newest member of the band. A natural tenor, his distinctive vocal sound allows the band to perform some of the greatest songs of the 1980s. A graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Brandon’s diverse talents include a proficiency in Muay Thai, the operations and executive management of two small businesses, the writing/production/mixing/and mastering of his personal band’s music (Darling Overdrive), and of course the precise and energetic guitar playing that keeps each 6MDB show interesting and engaging.

Ryan Day

Drums, Vocals

Drummer Ryan Day first picked up the sticks at age 13 and hasn't stopped playing since. His first public performance was inside a movie theater lobby, banging out classic covers from The Beatles, U2, and The Who. Over the years he has been a member in both original and cover bands. Prior to forming 6MDB, he was a competition snare drummer in Colorado Skye, a Colorado Springs based bagpipe band that traveled around North America to compete.

Among the band's loyal fans, Ryan is known for his rock-steady sense of timing, speed, and precision around the drum kit.

Ross Hoekman

Bass Guitar

Ross Hoekman has been involved in music almost all his life, after his parents started him in piano lessons at age 4. He added saxophone at age 11 and played in concert, symphonic, jazz and marching bands throughout high school and college, with trips to things like the Rose Bowl Parade and a Green Bay NFL Halftime show.

Ross found bass guitar to be his true passion during a year-long tour with Up With People that spanned two continents, 14 countries, and 161 cities. Following that tour, he returned to continue with bass guitar as his main instrument, and his history includes a wide variety of projects including rock originals, 14-piece funk/rock/r&b, stage musicals, 15-piece gospel, modern country rock, New Orleans second line/funk, wedding/event bands, vocal choirs, studio work... and now 6MDB!

Along with his passion for music, Ross enjoys being a graphic designer and photographer by day, working on everything from buttons to vehicle design, trade show graphics, digital and web, and is getting into video and motion design.

Mike Camara

Sound Engineer

Mike first saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 and knew he wanted to be a musician. After learning to play several brass instruments, he purchased his first bass guitar in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1968 and performed with several local German bands before moving to Denver in 1970. Once in Denver, Mike brought his talents to numerous original and cover projects throughout the 70's and 80's. In 1990, Mike was invited by a coworker to attend a concert that featured several members of the present-day 6MDB. A friendship with the band was quickly established and, in 2007, Mike became 6MDB's full-time sound and lighting engineer.

Mike takes pride in delivering the best sound quality possible, whether it's an intimate venue or a full-blown outdoor concert.  Mike is responsible for developing 6MDB's live sound, light show, guitar tones, and just about every other technical aspect of the production. He works directly with the client to ensure the band's volume level is perfect for their event. When not working with 6MDB, Mike enjoys spending time with his family and working around his house.
